Badavin Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Along the village of Badava, Surkhantau ridge, Southwest Gissar. I.M. Nigmadzhanov et al. in 1997. Stratotype - section "Aksu", 30 km to the northwest of the city of Denau, north of the village of Badava, western slope of the watershed of the Aksu-Vakhsh rivers.
Synonym: Badavin Suite, Бадавинская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Interbedded micritic limestones with separate thin siliceous horizons of greenish-gray, red, with occasional layers of "goniatite" limestones. Thickness 40m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformably overlies the basalts of the Khodzhirbulak Fm
Upper contact
conformably overlain by the Suffin-Carb Fm.
Regional extent
Southwest Gissar, Surkhantau ridge. Separated from the composition of the Khodzhirbulak Fm. F.R. Bensh in 1969 considered the deposits of the Badavin Fm to be part of the Khodzhirbulak Fm and Suffin-Carb Fm.

Contains conodonts - Gnathodus bilineatus Roundy, Declinognathodus noduliferus El. et Cr., Lochriea cruciformis (Clarke), Idiognathoides sinuatus Harris et Holl., I. corrugatus Harris et Holl.; ammonoids of the zones Eumorphoceras, Homoceras, Reticuleceras.
